My name is Christina, and this past spring, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a marketing and real estate intern at Coworking on 15th. As a Business Administration major with a minor in Real Estate at Arizona State University, this experience was a perfect fit for both my academic and professional interests. It gave me the chance to apply what I’ve been learning in the classroom to real-world projects, explore different sides of the real estate industry, and build skills I know I’ll use in my future career.
A Little Bit of Everything
Every day was different when I walked into work, and that kept the internship exciting. I helped manage a few short- and medium-term rentals, which included responding to guest messages, optimizing listings on platforms like Vrbo, Airbnb, and Furnished Finder, and finding tenant leads. I also worked on larger renovation projects, like converting an old motel into apartment units and expanding parts of the coworking office.
At the coworking space itself, I helped find potential tenants to rent private offices and managed our social media. I posted everything from reels and infographics to event highlights and behind-the-scenes content to keep things fun and engaging. I used Canva to design most of the posts, and I also wrote blog articles on topics like “Open Desk vs. Private Office: Which Is Better for Coworking?”, “Coworking Strategies to Help Small Businesses Stand Out and Grow,” and “Why Virtual Office Addresses Are the New Must-Have for Small Businesses.”
Inside the Office
One of the best parts of this internship was the environment. Working at the coworking office meant being surrounded by people doing all kinds of different work. Even if we weren’t collaborating directly, having people around who were passionate about their own projects made the space feel creative and motivating. It made the office feel friendly and welcoming.
There was also a sense of trust and independence. I was given real responsibilities and expected to take ownership of projects, but I always had support when I needed it. That balance helped me become more confident in my own abilities.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing in both real estate and marketing. This internship helped me realize how much I enjoy the intersection of creative strategy and property management, and I hope to build a career where I can combine both. Whether it’s working with real estate development, branding unique spaces, or helping small businesses thrive, I’m driven by the idea of creating value and making things better for the people who use them. My long-term goal is to work in a role that allows me to keep learning, stay creative, and make a real impact in the industry.
A Mentor Who Made a Difference
Eric Diaz, the owner of Coworking on 15th, was a big part of why this internship meant so much to me. His mentorship pushed me to set higher goals for myself, and I’m incredibly grateful for his guidance.
The Takeaway
If you’re thinking about applying for this internship or one like it, I can’t recommend it enough. You’ll learn real skills, meet great people, and come away with experiences that matter. I’m so thankful to have spent this semester at Coworking on 15th, and I know the things I learned here will stick with me long after graduation.
Thank you to Eric and everyone I worked with for making this such a positive experience. This experience has shaped the way I approach my future, and I’m excited to build on it.
