Breaking out the Map
I won’t lie, its hard to get this urban bicyclist out of central Phoenix. Just ask my girlfriend, when the topic of ‘dinner in Scottsdale’ comes up, I shudder.
However, that is a tendency that I’m trying to break and with two visits east of 40th St this week I think I’m making excellent progress. The highlight of my GPS navigated adventures was a trip to network at an event called Cocktails with Creators last night in the heart of ASU’s campus in Tempe.
Besides a great event name and great venue at Desarrollo the newest Tempe coworking space, the event was attended by founders, innovation leaders, tech gurus, and many key entrepreneurial players in the greater valley that are involved with our expanding technology scene. The cold beers flowed all night and after having a chance to learn more about Cocktails with Creators’ mission from Zach Ferres of Ciplex, the group moved in unison up to the rooftop to continue the conversation with the backdrop of the Thursday night action overlooking Mill Ave on ASU’s campus.
While last night’s event was a private session, the folks with Cocktails with Creators are looking to meet more regularly throughout the year, and to gain more momentum to encourage tech startups throughout the valley. They will be a group to watch and I am personally excited to attend future events, no matter which part of the valley they may be.
About Cocktails with Creators:
Cocktails with Creators is Phoenix’s premier invite-only gathering of leaders focused on supporting the growth of a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the valley. This is a great opportunity to network and get exposed to innovative ideas and people.
