Hi! My name is Sophie, and this summer I had the opportunity to intern at Coworking on 15th in downtown Phoenix, where I worked on both marketing and real estate projects. I’m a senior at Arizona State University studying Marketing and Sustainability, and I’ve always been drawn to real estate — so this internship was a great way to connect what I’m studying with the kind of work I hope to do. It gave me hands-on experience and helped me see how marketing and real estate can complement each other in a really effective way.
Inside My Internship
Every day at this internship was different—in the best way! I helped manage our short- and medium-term rentals, which meant answering guest messages, updating listings across Airbnb, Vrbo, and Furnished Finder, and following up on leads. I also helped out with a few longer-term rental properties and got experience working with tenants and coordinating tours.
On the marketing side, I helped create and schedule Instagram content, shared updates about our coworking members and events, and wrote a few blog posts. It was a great mix of creative and hands-on work, and I enjoyed getting involved in different parts of the business.
What I Took Away
This internship involved a lot of independent work where I handled both creative and strategic tasks. I gained confidence managing new responsibilities—whether writing blog content, communicating with prospective tenants, or supporting behind-the-scenes marketing efforts. I also learned about digital marketing as well as the government regulations involved in owning and listing properties. Most of my experience focused on residential properties, including managing houses and being involved throughout the renovation process of converting an old motel into a four-unit quadplex.
As I head into my senior year, I’m even more excited about opportunities that combine marketing, real estate, and sustainability. I’d love to keep working with mission-driven spaces and businesses that bring people together—whether that’s through design, community, or purpose.
A Thank you
Huge thank you to Eric Diaz for being such a supportive mentor. I really appreciated the trust and guidance he gave me throughout the internship—it made the experience that much better.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a student interested in real estate, marketing, or anything in between, I’d definitely recommend a role like this one. I learned a lot, met great people, and got to try out different kinds of work all in one summer. I’m super grateful for the experience and excited to see what’s next
