Learning by Doing: My Fall Internship in Real Estate Sales & Marketing at Coworking on 15th

My name is Nicole, and this past fall I had the opportunity to intern at Coworking on 15th as a Real Estate Sales and Marketing Intern. I’m a senior marketing major, and this experience gave me the chance to apply what I’ve been learning in school to real, everyday work in a fast-paced environment. This internship was a blend of marketing, real estate, and operations, which made it a great fit for my interests and a valuable learning experience overall.

A Mix of Marketing, Real Estate, and Operations

One of the things I appreciated most about this internship was how much variety each week brought. I worked closely with both short and long-term rental operations within Holiday Properties. I enjoyed responding to guest messages, communicating with prospective tenants, and generating and following up with rental leads. I also helped manage listings and maintenance across platforms like Airbnb, Furnished Finder, Zillow, Avail, and others, which gave me insight into how marketing, customer service, and operations all connect behind the scenes.

I was also involved in renovation projects that took place in Globe. This included ordering appliances and furniture, helping with signage, and working with the city on permits. Being part of these projects allowed me to see how much planning and coordination goes into developing and maintaining properties, and how important clear communication is at every step.

At Coworking on 15th, I assisted with tours and leasing for office spaces, helped schedule showings for rentals, and interacted directly with prospective tenants. I also contributed to blog writing, where I learned how to write with SEO in mind, which included identifying keywords and structuring content so it’s both informative and searchable. In addition, I attended networking events, which helped me build confidence and strengthen my professional communication skills.

The Work Environment

What stood out most about working at Coworking on 15th and Holiday Properties was the balance between independence and support. I was trusted with real responsibilities and encouraged to take ownership of my work, which helped me build confidence quickly. At the same time, there was always guidance available when I needed it. The coworking environment itself added to that experience. Being surrounded by people working on different projects created a sense of community that made the office feel productive and welcoming.

Some Takeaways

This internship helped me grow both professionally and personally. I developed a stronger understanding of marketing strategy, improved my communication skills, and gained confidence handling new challenges. More importantly, it confirmed that I want to continue pursuing a career that involves marketing, client communication, and relationship building. Seeing how marketing supports real estate and client experience gave me a broader perspective on how adaptable marketing roles can be. It also reinforced the importance of being flexible, organized, and proactive.

A Note of Thanks and Final Thoughts

I’m incredibly grateful to Eric Diaz, owner of Holiday Properties and Coworking on 15th, for his mentorship throughout the internship. His guidance, trust, and willingness to involve me in meaningful projects made this experience especially impactful and worthwhile. Having the opportunity to learn directly from someone so invested in both the work and the people involved made a lasting impression on me.

This fall internship is one that I will think back to often. It taught me far more than I could have ever learned in a classroom alone and was a great opportunity to gain hands on experience and learn how different parts of the business connect. I appreciate the responsibility I was given and the chance to be involved in real projects. I highly recommend this internship to anyone interested in marketing, real estate, or who simply has a passion for learning. I’m forever grateful for this experience and excited to take what I learned into future roles!
